What I have contributed towards the finished product:
I recorded my parts for the GTA section, with small additions to my partners script. I worked on my parts of the script as to accomodate a more flexible form of scripting between the two of us, being able to create a more conversational but professional sounding script. Along with my part of the script, I also recorded and edited a advertisement that is related to our Radio and Music Talk Show. The advertisements lasts aproximately 30 seconds. Finally, I wrote and recorded the LCS section of my talk show and this lasted for around 46 seconds.

Cubase - Learning Process
Cubase 7
Cubase works on lanes/tracks to play loop patterns:
A pattern can be created from scratch or one can use preset loops provided by the program. Current progression on the apparent sting we are going to make for our radio show sting. A small loop with a classical rock guitar and drum loop.A loop pattern is put into seperate sections so that it is easy to interchange patterns. Each section is further seperated by layers and each of these layers can be set to have different priorities and effects. Volume can be changed seperately from each layer which can help in preventing one loop from overpowering another one.
The program comes with several preset loops which can be used to create a more intricate loop. It is not restricted to using just preset loops, as it allows you to make custom loops to help fit the music you are creating.
Furthermore, you are able to use music files that do not rely on on the loops. .mp3 and .flac files can be used for editing.

P1: Welcome back. So back on topic: GTA V.
P2: It
is now the year 2015 and Rockstar north have finally released GTA V for
PC, the re-release for this version was made available for PC on the 14th of
April. The re-release changes little from the basic gameplay of the
original version however, one of the more significant changes that have
been made is that the online multiplier mode has now been increase from
16 to 30. The latest version of GTA V also includes a first person
option, this seems great at first however after playing around with it a
while you begin to notice that everything has become a lot harder. For
example when driving you can only see what is in front of you, so you
end up constantly crashing into things every time you want to turn.
Although this is a setback, it also enhances other aspects of the game.
An example of this is shooting, when you shooting up the place if feels
like you’re playing call of duty I think that it is amazing that you can
actually aim down your sights now.
P1: There's been a lot of concern about the game not running in its
promised 60 frames per second. The reason? People's computers.
P2: One
of the other things that I notice when playing this is that the PC
version can support 60fps and it is also 4K resolution compatible, this
is good news for anyone that has the equipment to support this that
wants to really bring the game alive.
P1: As far as I know, the game has been optimised as much as possible
but it needs some end-market spec hardware to run as smooth as possible.
The new 'Director Mode' is a welcomed feature but with the game still
being mostly the same apart from the improved graphics and online net
code, there hasn't been much other additions which have left fans
concerned. The fans may have been looking for some improvements.
P2: The
PC version of GTA V has gone down very well with the public, metacritic
had calculated an average score of 97 out of 100, IGN and
VideoGamer.com had given the game 10/10. Many had stated that the main
thing that they was impressed with the most was enhanced visuals.

From the creators of the Fable franchise, Albion is once again in

can quest on your own as "The Hero" or you could battle the forces
that threaten the world together. You can fight with 3 of your friends. So what else is there to wait for go
and... did you think that was everything?
Sure, you can play as a
hero but have you ever felt what it's like to be the one behind
it all? You can choose to fight against the 'heroes' and impend their
progress by sending out hordes of enemies, creating traps and separating
the heroes. Disrupt their order as much

We are back with some news on what's happening on the LCS this year
and today, we will be focusing on the eSports side of things with League
of Legends. TSM (Team Solo Mid) has won the North American LCS and
are set for this years Summer split with the other teams chosen from NA.
On our side of the world, Fnatic has taken the European LCS and
are joining TSM in the 2nd playoffs.
P1: Looks like Fnatic might be representing Europe again and it seems like they are even stronger than their last years performance. Still, we can't rule out the fact that UOL (Unicorns of Love) was the dark horse with their performance against GMB (Gambit Gaming) and SK Gaming. Looks like things are going to get heated up this summer, especially with the teams that are playing.

LO2 - Task 3 - Planning the Radio Show/Podcast (P3)
Pre-Production - Production - Post-Production:
During pre-production, the radio station will plan out all the production schedule and how the radio show will be running. They will have to plan several points for a radio show: interviews schedules and questions, prepare preset materials for before and after recording, content planning in which they plan what they are going to use in their radio show and a script to follow for the live radio and recording. They will also need to follow Ofcom guidelines which means they are not allowed to breach the rules that have been set for a community radio i.e. Above 18 materials/content. Content is prerecorded so that they can edit out any inappropriate content.
Planning the Radio Show/Podcast (P3)
A.) Intended Radio Station/Broadcaster
Radio Sheffield Live! will be the chosen broadcaster for my (our) radio show. This is because of the theme I have used for the content, which is gaming. The content will be somewhat oriented towards the community which is also more appropriate for a community radio.
B.) Target Audience
The intended target audience was students and the middle aged bracket (16-30+). The students age bracket is to consider that the younger age group are already digital natives and we can assume that they play video games on any form of platform. Also, considering the older age group may have technically gone through the same form of growing up on video games as the students may have. The ratio of students to the older generation is around 17%. The main proportion of the target audience will most likely be social classes of B and C1 due to the fact that gaming can be quite costly and would mean that they would have some available disposable income. However, most of the target audience will be students and are not working full time or are in any jobs that can be considered in the A social classes. Some may work part time which would mean they are in the C2 and D social classes.
C.) Content Plan
The content will include a series of game news, small/quick reviews and reports on the eSports scene and all of this content will be unbiased and completely middle-ground opinion. The games news will talk about upcoming games and current games which have been creating hype; this is just to inform people for what they could be waiting for in terms of what games to get and for what platform. The reviews will feature mostly recent games (Which may include the previous last quarter year games [October 2014 - February 2015]). The reviews will be mainly about the gameplay without going too far into the technical terms and this will also completely unbiased. Regarding the eSports section of the radio show, it will be talking about current event in several eSports events such as IEM and LCS. It may also include of how eSports may have grown.
D.) Running Order
The running order will consist of playing the introduction for around 30 seconds summarising the episode that will be playing but not giving away the finer details. After this, it will play several recording of advertisements which are linked with games i.e. trailer sounds
Jingle - Script/Main Content - Topic 1 - Topic 2 - Outro - Final Jingle
During the main content, between the topics, there could a series of short advertisement which are also made by us. The jingle will need to be planned out in terms of what sound effects we will be using and what we could replicate.
Jingle Idea #1:
The jingle will have to somehow link into the genre of our radio show. (May used conventions used regularly in jingles (Harmonics at the start/end of the jingle.) and use a sound effect that can be recognises the first time someone hears it(?).) The sting will not be only thing that will be a musical feature as we may include a bed during the main discussions and the topics. The music will reflect our chosen genre [Game/Gaming] which could mean we may have to ask game companies if we can use their soundtracks from certain video games. If anything else, we could create a custom collection from a series of games made into a single song loop.
The idea is to use several sound effects and music from multiple games to create a jingle that represents games and gaming in general.
The advertisement will also be linked into the genre of our radio show. It will most likely include promotion of upcoming and recent games and entertainment technology. With the main advertisements during the middle of the topics, we could prepare a guest speaker to talk about game development of a certain upcoming game or game that is currently in the spotlight. The guest speaker can possibly be pre-recorded using a specific set of questions and then a guest speaker in the studio to ask questions live and possibly some from the audience.
Synopsis:
Evolve is a gaming oriented radio programme which will feature new about upcoming and recent game releases, small games reviews about one or two games and then news on what is currently happening on the eSports scene i.e. Competitions, IEM and LCS, Upcoming eSports related games.
E.) Script
Considering the length of each of the audio provided, an estimate of around 3+ minutes of talk must be provided. The script will have to adapt to several advertisements which could be about game companies, upcoming video games (Trailer in pure audio form) and local communities focus on games.
After the jingle plays out, we begin with the introductions and introduce ourselves as the presenters of our Radio talk show. The introductions shouldn't drag out too long and that's why we introduce the main content for the given episode in bullet points and afterwards proceed in to talking about each of the topics in more depth. After one topic has been discussed or has been presented, before the next content is presented, an advertisement will be played in between to give some time to prepare the next material (if needed) and give time for the listener(s) to absorb the given information. This pattern follows through until all topics have been presented and discussed. The show is ended by creating a small summary at the end of the given episode and a final jingle is played which is more likely to create a lasting effect on the listener.
The advertisements will most likely be about a local source such as Sumo Digital. The advertisement has to be relevant to the content we have provided and that could be content such as what games they produce and what games they will be planning to release; games that may be upcoming could come from Sumo Digital. This type of trend could follow through the advertisements.

F.) Production Schedule
G.) Relevant legal and/or Ethical Issues
The content will follow the rules and guidelines of Ofcom. In terms of content, we will be following the guidelines concerning mature content. This regards to the fact that the audience may not necessarily be the age group we intended to aim for. Not only will we use Ofcom guidelines but we will also be using the PEGI rating on games to judge whether to talk about the given content more subtly or more directly. We have to regulate how direct we talk about the content as it may be cause for concern on whether the content is for more a mature age rating. We will also have to consider whether our radio talk show will be presented before or after the watershed and what content will be allowed to be presented.
A Community Broadcasting License has allowed community radio to broadcast copyrighted material from third party with restrictions. This licensing however doesn't affect the community radio due to the fact that community radios do not usually produce money or profit and is usually run by local people. This would mean that audio from external sources such as our bedding sound track and sound effects can be used, with permission and without creating profit.
The radio show I have planned out will need to follow the rule Ofcom has set out; in this case the rule of Protecting the Under-Eighteens and is followed by Harm and Offence. In this case, I will have to follow certain prerequisites such as what material I will be allowed to broadcast and the time these materials are broadcasted at. Another main concern would be how the material I am broadcasting could affect the listeners in which they have no prior knowledge of the broadcasted material.
I will make sure that the radio show will not include any form of endangering behaviour or promote any form of paranormal and superstitious content. If any form of competition or voting occurs, it will be done in a fair and professional manner in which the broadcasters form rules that prevent any form of bias. These rules will be outlined and clearly explained.
H.) Proposed Scheduling Time
The scheduling time for when our Radio and Music Talk show would most likely be done during a Wednesday midday. This would give us enough time to prepare material to talk about in the episode.
The scheduling time will also concern the launch date of our radio show. The schedule that the radio show has been set out will most likely mean that the radio show is launched on Wednesdays between June and July, between the time of 3pm and 5pm. The reason for this time is that students are most likely coming back from school/college which means we would be able to attract as many people as possible. Due to the nature of Radio Sheffield Live!, swapping with a radio show pertaining music may not pose as much of a problem. Radio Sheffield Live! mainly consists of music radio shows and adding a different type of radio show could help attract more attention.
During the main content, between the topics, there could a series of short advertisement which are also made by us. The jingle will need to be planned out in terms of what sound effects we will be using and what we could replicate.
Jingle Idea #1:
The jingle will have to somehow link into the genre of our radio show. (May used conventions used regularly in jingles (Harmonics at the start/end of the jingle.) and use a sound effect that can be recognizes the first time someone hears it(?).) The sting will not be only thing that will be a musical feature as we may include a bed during the main discussions and the topics.
Jingle Idea #2:
Competitions, IEM and LCS, Upcoming eSports-esque games.

LO1 - Task 2 - Analysing and Talk and Music radio show
A.)
Running Order
The introduction goes for around
30 seconds at the start of the episodes which is followed by around 4 minutes
and 30 seconds of promotion. These promotions include productions, services and
music. This is most likely from the local community and having promotional
content in the episode not only help the local community but it also means that
those services and production could also promote the radio station and its
radio programmes. After the promotional section of the radio show, it is
followed by 3 presenters introducing the main content of the programme and in
this particular episode, the 3 presenter’s debate and talk about their
favourite games in chronological order. After 10 or so minutes, they play a
song which is most likely a local production which usually last 3 minutes or
more and at this point, this is most likely the break time for the presenters
and to just plan/prepare the next section of content. This is done in the same
order: promotions, episode content, music, episode content. This is most likely
done through the other episodes to keep the show consistent.
B.)
DJs/Presenters
There are 3 presenters and they
seem to be between the age ranges of 30-40, which means that they have been
playing games since the 20th century. They have however delved into
the new generation consoles and sometimes mention about a new game or something
similar, however, their main content of talking however seems to be the retro
games and games made before the third generation consoles (i.e. Xbox 360 and
PS3). They have a very informal way of presenting their content and it allows
people to relate to the presenters in a way. They don’t necessarily speak
directly to the audience in a way (apart from introducing the content being
talked about) but they talk about their content in a way that the audience will
understand i.e. discussing about a game mechanic to another presenter. So in a
way, each of the presenters is the audiences’ point of view.
C.)
Content
They have a certain pattern for
their content. It begins with promotional content which promote local services
and productions. This is followed by the main content of the episode which in
this particular one, they talk and have a debate about their favourite games.
In the one episode I listened to, they didn’t have any form of interviews,
phone-ins or other external input from outside their studio. In seems that they
play music after around 10 minutes of content to act as a break between debates
and talks. It also seems that it’s only for promotional purposes.
D.)
Audience
The audience seems to be targeted
at a rather wide age range due to the content being presented (Games). The
target age seems to 18-30+ and because of the apparent ages of the presenters,
the older generations who may have been from their generation may also be part
of the targeted audience. Gender doesn’t seem to be a factor in their target
audience although games that they do talk about seem to be more for the
stereotypical male type of games.

LO1 - Task 1 - "Investigating a radio station." Brief
Programme Types -What is Sheffield Live!'s ethos? Who owns the station? What the programmes do they produce and why to do they do this? Name at least five different programmes on the station.
Genres -What genres of programmes does Sheffield Live! broadcast? Why? Give at least three examples.
Audience Profile/s - Who is their main target audience or do they cater for a range of audiences with their products? Complete a moodboard and written profile of one other target audience groups. Please put ABC1's etc. in.
Production Process - How do different parts of the company operate to work together to produce and promote products? How do the different areas of the production team work together to produce products?
Market Share - Who are the main competitors to Sheffield Live? Why are they considered competitors based on the products the company makes? How does the organization stand out from the competitors? What is there official share of radio audience? TSA?
A.) Programme Types:
Sheffield Live! is a community based radio station. They are involved and are run mainly by local community. Sheffield Live! caters to a niche audience, meaning they exist to entertain a smaller audience compared to that of a larger radio station i.e. Sheffield Hallam. They produce programmes such as Communities Live, Spirit of the Wapentake, The Local Talent Show, Soul Purpose and Vancouver Maneuver. Each of these programmes have their own content to entertain a smaller audience and the station aims to cater to an underserved audience.
Sheffield Live!'s ethos follows to catering to the local community and to reach out to underserved people, the people who aren't entertained by mainstream radio stations. Sheffield Live is set up to be a independent company by the Community Media Association which means they aren't heavily funded, hence why they are run by the community. Sheffield Live! helps with project and activities involving young people and the community in general. They have helped in organizing events throughout Sheffield, helping to form a youth organization that educates young people through music. Sheffield Live! is a small-scale radio station that is for non-profit and to deliver social gain.
B.) Genres:
Sheffield Live! has features quite a few genres. This is to serve a range of audiences through niche content. They broadcast genres such as music (which has a range such as jazz, soul, ethnic, rock etc.) and community radio which involves the community, hence the genre. They have a series of radio programmes which provide a wide range of entertainment for the underserved audience. They provide genres that not a lot of an audience would listen to but it would cater to those that are in a higher age section which means it has doesn’t leave out an older generation. The radio shows provided may prove interesting enough for the younger audience.
C.) Audience(s) Profile:
Since they cater to an underserved part of the community, the target audience being target is actually quite a large range in terms of content. Age for example is different in that regard.
Tom, 37 years old and currently working as an engineer, enjoys listening to talk shows and likes to listen to jazz. He likes being part of a long standing community based in Sheffield and tries to contribute to the community station by listening as often as possible. Being an engineer, he is required to do specialist work; hence he is a part of the ABC1 section of social class.
D.) Production Process:
All forms of production in any form of products follow 3 different phases of production: During pre-production, a treatment must be written up to create a proposal for a radio show. If the radio show is approved, a radio script must be made for every episode that will be happening through the life of the radio show. They must research about the subject they are doing for the radio show to be able to create cohesive episodes that will be broadcast and recorded. For the radio show to be successful, they must also organize team meetings to organize their schedules and the production content. During this, they will most likely have to organize PRS licensing and discuss what ethical guidelines the radio show might have to avoid. Production is where the main body of the product is built up from the pre-production. The pre-production materials such as the episode script and pre-recorded materials are used. After the radio show has been on broadcast, it will have been recorded.
E.) Market Share:
As any other form of a company, they have to go against other radio stations to provide the needs and wants of the audience. Sheffield Live!, being a community radio, they do not necessarily get funded from a huge company and is more or less ran by the community, hence the name. They are an independent radio station compared to other radio stations that are most likely commercial stations. Community stations don't get profit but use the money being brought in by the promotional sections of the radio shows to help improve the station and the content it provides to the community.
Being a community radio station, it provides content that almost every commercial radio station doesn’t provide, which is the niche genres. This is to aim towards the underserved part of the community who are most likely in the older age brackets. They hold around 11% of the radio audience in Sheffield.
